So the big news in the States is the delay of the passing of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act to June.

The delay allows U.S. banks to keep processing payments to online gambling sites until June 1. If the measure was passed, Americans wouldn’t have been allowed to deposit money into their online poker accounts after Dec. 1.

You may ask, why do we care what’s going on in America?

The success of poker is tied to the number of players learning the game. How do you have a Joe Cada effect when young Americans can’t log onto the games?

At the end of the week — when I play the most poker — there are scores of Americans putting their hard-earned cash into poker sites, and I like their money very much.

Turn off the deposits and within weeks, all that’s left are winning players. Sure there will always be fun games of pot-limit Omaha on my favorite sites over here, but online poker will never be the same. The biggest games in the online world would dry up overnight.

Just think. After June, Durrrr won’t be able to reload against Isildur1. I’m not sure if I remember what the world was like before them.

If this law passes, I guess I’ll just live at the Vic. Look for me there, I’ll be the one crying at a £500 dealer’s choice table.
